RIOT at Atha Cliath

3 days post most shocking event to date since becoming a Dubliner autumn 2002...the news are still piping hot with the bits and parcels of the riot at city centre last saturday.was watching american idol and hanging to every words spilling out of hunk Seacrest's mouth, a text message from niesa initially got little attention from me..'ade riot kat ct.ade pape kat news tak?'..texted back 'nothing will text u if i get anything'..after checking she was ok,safe n sound,attention drawn back to Cowell flashing his famous smirk at a contestant..and 1/2 hour later 'Berita Terkini-like' news filled the screen.People running everywhere, hundreds seemed to be throwing rocks and bottles at a wall of Gardais,fire blazing on O Connel Street and i thought my God, is this for real?couldnt get much info from the short footage of news,mainly because am such an ignorant soul to politics in this country (couldnt care less coz once asked an Irish groupmate and she nonchalantly waved me off with..i dunno much bout politics..so thank you very much!!)..after days of following the news..these are the facts that i could gather (highly likely wrong in many ways)..there was supposed to be a peace march for loyalist of the IRA (Sein Fein, a left wing political party was mentined somewhere)..something about asking for their right of something2..then another group of people (organised by a group i couldnt quite pronounce) violently opposed the march which ignited the whole riot..in conclusion it was all about Ireland internal affairs.damn!!need to force self to read the bloody newspapers.i could never understand the extent of terror faced by civilians shopping at the city centre at that moment.some came back to a car burned to ashes..horrifying indeed.seems like riot is an 'in thing' in self-claimed civilised europe nowadays (remind me of the riot in france not so long ago)...probably the best way to voice their opinion,to prove their point..n they say the palestinians are barbaric terrorists rioting all their lives...looks like the words have bounced back to you!!
