The Holiday
so far a few people who've been to istanbul said they left their heart there...yeah i would agree..Istanbul's awesome..
saw peah off at the airport yesterday morning..its officially the time to retrieve self from jolly lala days..but what the heck.couple more days wont hurt hihi
had a great holiday away..thousands of things to talk about..too lazy to write.cakap ngan peah n hani..masing2 nak suruh each other refer to each other's blog for the Istanbul entry..i think Peah will do it most justice since she's the best writer among us three..so peah dear..pleaseeeeeeeeeeee write something yeah? *wink*
hmm fisrtly i wanna thank Allah for the opportunity to be in the land of once a great Islamic empire..hope this great history will repeat itself insyaAllah..
then i wanna thank my travel buddies...Miss Discount and Serom Chim..YOU GUYS ROCKS!!
and Mama n Ayah for never saying no to my travelling..muah muah
erm where do i start?? the feeling is indescribable really..we were lucky coz despite the bad weather forecast..our days were all sunny and warm..the atmosphere was totally different from any other european countries i visited before..i felt home.no worries about halal food, no worries about finding cheap restaurants to eat in, no second thoughts to buys snacks from roadside stalls coz they're simply yummylicious and murah...
everywhere u look there will be ladies elegantly dressed and the best part is..beautiful scarf on their heads..hehe feels like they are all our friends since they smiled sweetly at us.and of course..the hunks..man, turkish guys are just pleasant to look at hehe..lucky we are single..no guilt attached..memang susah la nak menundukkan pandangan..jgn tiru perangai tak senonoh ni ok adik2!hmm one thing we noticed..the girls there will have at least a man in their group..husband,dad,brother,teacher..mmg dijaga rapi..which made us three girls travelling on our own really weird and subjected to inquiring eyes..
athan..after so long living in dublin..the first athan we heard there was a soothing melody to the ears, like waterfall cooling our hearts..the athan in Istanbul 'echoes'..since many of the masjids are literally next to each other..bilal in the Blue Mosque will start, followed by the one in the nearest masjid..then the next and the next one.and athan is in arabic..not in turkish as rumoured.
Istanbul is a shopping heaven..at least for us girls who need pakaian menutup aurat and beautiful scarf..u can find the most elegant jackets, the best cutting clothes and skirts, the most flattering suits (yg still tutup aurat of course)..no more pening2 nak adjust clothes we bought in europe to cover whats supposed to be covered.even poor students like us can afford the price..and im talking about shopping in boutiques..not from hawkers or bazaar.so to those who are planning to go there..bring ur 'Bank Bergerak' along..i guarantee u'll be the happiest girl alive hehe. well i know Istanbul is not popular for these..but the other things can be Googled or read in travelling books.u know Kilim, carpets, evil eyes and what not.
Food...do indulge urself!!Serom chim gained 4 kg after 4 days..does that say it all?we loved the food so much..everywhere is halal..people were insulted when we asked is their food halal or not.
Grilled, kebabs,i ate lamb till i felt dizzy..we had smoked mackerel sandwich fresh from the Bosphorus..u can see people fishing all along the Galata bridge.when u ask to have one the hawker will skillfully remove the bones without disrupting the flesh..awesome! An old Turkish saying advises one to "eat sweetly and speak sweetly". Turkish people sure have sweet tooth..thats why i fit right in..moi have sweet tooth too...so many to choose from..i had the baklava, kadayif and rice pudding.i wish i can taste them all.and of course the turkish delight...the puddings are popular, theres a popular Yogurt in Uskudar (asean part of istanbul) which we sadly did not find and turkish ice cream (in another province 1500km away).
haih i know im writing on the small and seemingly unimportant things..but whats the point of telling u guys something u can google urself ait?im tired...to be continued..
